About Miss G!


Welcome everyone! 

My name is Miss Giroux and I am a third-year teacher with the Halton Catholic District School Board. I believe with the right environment, all students can learn and reach their full potential! I am passionate about building positive and meaningful relationships with my students. My personal goal as an educator is to create a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where all learners feel represented. I employ a variety of teaching methods that challenge my students to take risks, be innovative and learn in ways that suit their needs. I am a reflective educator; continuously pushing myself to adapt to the unique needs of learners in the 21st century! 


I'm a dog-mom, traveller, avid sports fan, love to play soccer, read and be outside. My family and friends have helped inspire me to be the person I am today. I want to provide students with a unique educational experience they will never forget!

What is the Importance of Fostering the 6C's in the Classroom? Check out this video:  How are the 6C's Demonstrated?  Character Education:  one of the female students in the video chose the topic of Autism. She connected with professionals in the field and mentions she may be interested in pursuing a career or helping those with autism in the future. Social Media in the Classroom

If educators are going to use Social Media as an  Educational tool, then I believe it is imperative they educate themselves on the risks and benefits of social media, just as they would educate their students. When used appropriately, Social media platforms are a great way to communicate with students, parents, other educators and build upon your digital portfolio. I am a firm believer in “practicing what you preach” and therefore if you have expectations regarding social media use for your students, you should also have them for yourself. Students are being exposed to technology and social media at a much younger age then in the past and therefore it is very important to continuously review classroom expectations and school policies. I would co-construct classroom expectations/contract with my students and within this contract would include expectations for appropriate use of technology. Junior Learners & Blogs

In one of my recent posts, I spoke about the importance of educators taking the time to understand the benefits and risk factors of technology for both themselves and their students. Having Junior students create a blog or a website is very beneficial because they are exposed to creating a positive digital footprint. Although it may seem young, it is teaching students how to effectively conduct themselves appropriately in digital spaces. Using blogs and websites also provides students with the ability to be creative and innovative in their learning as e-portfolios offer many opportunities beyond paper and pencil.
